Corelis Adds Boundary-Scan Scripting Support
to its Powerful ScanExpress Software Family

Powerful “C”-like scripting capability provides greater flexibility and
helps to simplify customized tests and increase test coverage

Cerritos, CA, June 26, 2007 – Corelis Inc., a leading supplier of high-performance boundary-scan and emulation tools, announced today the availability of boundary-scan scripting, a new feature that enables the user to create customized testing sessions. The updated ScanExpressTPG and ScanExpress Runner tools now support integrated boundary-scan scripting capabilities. This new feature is available to customers with a valid maintenance contract at no additional charge.

ScanExpressTPG incorporates a new Script Debugger GUI to create and edit scripted test steps for use in ScanExpress Runner. Script command files are user-provided text files that perform various scan-related functions. The script syntax is very much like the “C” programming language and is consistent with the style and format of other Corelis products that support scripting. The built-in Script Debugger assists in script generation by providing syntax highlighting and syntax checking.

The scripting language contains support for looping (for and while loops), conditional branching, and many other features consistent with a language similar to “C”.  Script variables are dynamically assigned so it is unnecessary to declare variable types. The scripting language also contains built-in functions that allow the script to write text to a file, output messages, or suspend execution for a predetermined period.  Boundary-scan-specific functions allow the user to group pins, read pin values, and set pin values.  Script command files may contain one or more functions.  The user can create subroutines and call them from the main function, thus reducing the need for repetition of commonly-used tasks.

"The powerful scripting language provides greater flexibility and directly adds benefit when developing custom test procedures for clusters with non-boundary-scan logic.  Previously, each test vector had to be assigned for all pins and would often result in a lot of manual repetition.  Now the user can write a simple function to repeat specific test patterns which greatly compacts the overall test size, makes the test easier to understand, and is much less error prone," said Karla May, Boundary-Scan Product Marketing Manager at Corelis. "The script language also makes functional testing of peripheral devices such as analog-to-digital converters and real-time clocks much simpler requiring less effort for the test engineer.  Support for similar devices can also be easily added with simple script modifications."
